YPAS staff member Alex climbs Mount. Kilimanjaro

Alex Hartley, who is a Support Services staff member at YPAS, made the once in a life time trip to Tanzania to conquer Kilimanjaro.

Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest mountain, and the tallest free standing mountain in the world, standing at over 5800m. Alex and her partner Lee were fundraising for YPAS, CALM and the Communities for Africa.

Alex added:
It was an absolutely amazing experience and I absolutely loved every minute of the trip. The mountain, the scenery, the views and the people were all wonderful. A once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget!

YPAS was the first organisation that took me in and also the quickest, Sonia helped me get through a very difficult stage in my life and has bettered me as a person. I feel better equipped to deal with situations in life and my mental health has improved overall because of it.

I felt progression and I found my strength and resilience through the sessions. I am proud of myself for staying strong and showing my commitment through the past months of my sessions. I also gained a handful of coping strategies and I maintained my balance by controlling my worries.
