What is Parent Conduct?
The Parent conduct programme is a low-level guided self-help intervention, delivered over six sessions.
The intervention looks to improve parent-child interactions and relationships using evidence-based strategies, to reduce the escalation of behavioural and emotional problems, and to break any unhelpful patterns of interaction by establishing a positive relationship between parent and child.
Parents/Carers will learn about children’s behaviours, including triggers for challenging behaviour, and what reinforces this. This will also help to increase parent/carer confidence in interacting with their children.
Parents/Carers will have the opportunity to practice the skills each week at home and discuss any challenges in the following session.
