What is Riding the Rapids?
This is a course for parents and carers of children who have a diagnosis of Autism and/ or severe learning disabilities who are exhibiting challenging behaviour. Aims to help parents and carers understand and manage challenging behaviour shown by their child, whilst increasing their confidence and coping skills in managing these behaviours.
Referral Criteria:
Parents/carers of children aged 5-11 years (Primary group) and 11-16 years (Secondary group)
Experiencing challenging behaviours
Have a diagnosis of autism or learning disabilities
Where there is a diagnosis of Autism, Parent/Carer must have completed a post diagnostic course prior to attending Riding the Rapids group. The post diagnostic course is delivered by Addvanced Solutions and the ASD Training Team
