YPAS offers a range of wellbeing and therapeutic services for children aged 5-15 years, young people ages 16-25 years and their families in Merseyside.

Established in 1966 YPAS is a charitable sector organisation that supports children, young people and families with their mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties. We deliver our services in primary schools, secondary schools and 3 community hubs across the city.

YPAS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and families and expects all staff to share in this commitment.

Student Placements at YPAS

YPAS works alongside and has strong relationships with universities and higher education institutes (HEI). At YPAS, we offer counselling placements for students undertaking counselling and psychotherapy training. We are committed to supporting our students in reaching their full potential.

National Autism Programme (LDA) Practitioners

YPAS is excited to offer a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed professional to join our team as a Trainee Children and Young People’s Specialist Clinical Practice National Autism Programme (LDA) Practitioner. This 12-month training post combines hands-on experience supporting children and young people with autism and or learning disabilities, alongside a fully funded Postgraduate Diploma and Weekly Clinical Supervision. This trainee role is ideal for someone passionate about working with neurodivergent children and young people.

4 x Trainee IPT-A Therapists (Interpersonal Therapy with Adolescents)

YPAS is offering an exciting opportunity to train as a Trainee Interpersonal Psychotherapy Practitioner for Adolescents (IPT-A) while working directly with young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties. This is a 12-month paid training post that includes fully funded training leading to a postgraduate qualification in IPT-A. You will receive expert clinical supervision and clinical experience as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.

Seedlings Anna and Emma are amazing they put children 1st and are always willing to support and help families. They build amazing relationships with children, my daughter feels comfortable with both Emma and Anna and was able to communicate her thoughts and feelings which is really difficult for Amelia to do. I have only had a positive experience working with seedlings.

Lauren Marsh has provided counselling for my daughter. She started counselling and was unhappy with various things and needed an outside source of support. Lauren provided this service with sensitivity and care, which has helped my daughter come out of her shell and discuss the things that have been bothering her. Lauren has offered an insight on my daughters’ parents on certain concerns that have been raised, during the sessions. As a dad, I can see a huge difference in my daughter’s general mood. She seems to manage her emotions well and is more open about various things that are bothering her. I am so grateful for Lauren’s care and support. My daughter has been comfortable enough to open up. Lauren also raised concerns about progressing into grief counselling, which I felt was incredibly considerate, ensuring mu daughters mental wellbeing was catered for outside of counselling sessions.

Dear Meg and the team. I cannot express enough the gratitude, thanks and praise for your organisation. Meg: thank you for the time spent with my granddaughter and myself. Jodie was very nice and helpful when I didn't know what to do about my anxiety. I am finished now and feel confident to manage my anxiety myself and know a lot about it to help others, I feel a lot less anxious
