Youth Health Project

The GP Clinic Drop-in runs  Every 1st Wednesday of the Month  3pm - 6pm

GP Champs Liverpool is a partnership between YPAS and Brownlow Health Practice (GP Practice) and funded by the Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

 

It is a Youth Health Project aimed at children and young people aged 13-25 years who are experiencing difficulties with their physical and / or mental health.

The vision:

  • To improve young people’s health outcomes.
  • To improve collaborative working: develop and foster new professional relationships.

Depending on what service you receive e.g. GP 1-1 consultation or health drop-in support; a diagnosis or prescription can be made and / or ongoing weekly support provided.

  • GP Consultation
  • Health Checks
  • Sexual Health Advice

Health Drop-in:

  • Psycho-social education and self-help programmes aimed at building resilience
  • Young person’s steering group meeting (monthly)

Information Advice and Guidance:

  • Support to specialist agencies.
  • 1-1 goal based support

The Outreach Offer:

The GP Champ’s Health and Well-being Project can bring the psycho-social education and self-help programmes to young people. The aim of the programmes is to build resilience in order for young people to feel better equipped to deal with life challenges:
 

  • Promoting Health and Wellbeing (2hrs)
  • Mental Health Awareness and Challeng-ing Stigma (1.5 hrs)
  • Looking After Yourself (45mins)
  • Supporting Your Friends (2 hrs)
  • Reaching Out (1 hour)
  •  Drugs, Alcohol and Mental Health (1 hr)
  • Self Harm (2 hrs)
  • Understanding and Managing Anger (2hrs)
  • Food and Mood (1hr)
  • Managing Stress (1hr)
  •  Healthy Relationships (1hr)
  • Thinking and Feeling (2hrs)
  •  When Bad Things Happen (1 hr)

The GP Champs can be contacted outside of its drop-in times. Monday - Thursday 9.30-5pm & Friday 9.30 - 4pm.

 

  • YPAS takes self-referrals, which means you can refer yourself direct to YPAS.
  • Arriving at the weekly drop-in allows you to see the GP and/or receive informal health education within the drop-in.
